In the case of some gemstones, a preliminary verbal opinion can be expressed based on a short analysis. This “Verbal” is a non-binding and informal opinion of the gemmologist based on very limited analytical indications. If the client requests a Verbal, the laboratory contacts the client before performing the full analysis, giving the client the option of halting the analytical process based on this preliminary information. In rare cases, the Verbal might differ from the final report. The Gubelin Gem Lab is not always in a position to offer a Verbal on an item.
